About Zion Hill
Zion Hill School (Senior Basic) is a Government aided co-ed residential school. The Tribal Welfare Department, Govt. of Tripura provides stipend to the Scheduled Tribe boarders. Located at Zion Hill village, P.O-N.K.R Para, Teliamura, Khowai District, Tripura the school was established on 1st February 1974 under the banner of TTLIPE ‘Tripura Tribal Linguistic Institution Private Enterprise’ by Mr. Dulal Hrangkhawl and Mr. Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl along with their associates who were interested in education. The land for the school was donated by many individuals and well wishers who want to impart education to their future generations. It was privately run for many years and recognition was given by the Government of Tripura as Zion Hill English Medium Jr. High School in the year 1986.
The school was established with the objective to provide education to the underprivileged and low income group living in interior parts of the State of Tripura and who cannot afford to go to other places for education. Since its inception it has been catering to the needs of the children in and around its surrounding and also children of less privileged families from very remote areas of Tripura and beyond. The institution aims to build an inclusive space for the students to grow, learn and create. Through a unique teaching approach and truly passionate staff, we help students develop academically and personally to the highest level. Founder of Zion Hill School
Late Dulal Hrangkhawl
Late Dulal Hrangkhawl was born in 1947, he was the youngest among the three brothers and has two sisters. Mr. Dulal Hrangkhawl led his early years in the underprivileged family and had to undergo lot of hardship for his primary education. Somehow, managed to qualify class three standard and move from place to place and pillar to post for further up-gradation of his education. After earning his ITI certificate he got employment in ONGC, Tripura. Eventually, after about few years his urge for the social cause took charge of his youth making him to quit his job in ONGC and ultimately took to social work till he passed away in 20.12.2014. The school continues its journey under the care of his associates and children.
Dr. Synem Hrangkhawl
Dr. Synem Hrangkhawl is the current administrator. She has a a Doctorate degree in Sociology from Tripura University (A Central University). Born in Tui Koi Nek Village, Tripura, she did her primary schooling from Zion Hill School and graduated in Sociology Honours from North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong. Apart from pursuing Ph. D, she had worked as Project Fellow under UGC-Major Project for 2 (two) years and also had experienced of working with World Vision India for 5 (five) years as Programme Development and Information Coordinator.
Her passion to provide holistic education to the underprivileged children and also her zeal for sustainable development motivated her to join the school.
Mr. Chandrahari Hrangkhawl
Mr. Chandrahari Hrangkhawl, born on 7th April, 1972 at Debthang Village, N.K.R. Para, Teliamura, Khowai, Tripura. He graduated in the year 1995 from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya. He has been working in Zion Hill School since 1999 as Assistant Teacher. A dedicated and humble man, whose interest lies in music and spending time with the students.
